HDHPs and HSAs: A Love Story
We give each qualified employee a choice between two medical plans depending on where he or she resides. Employees living in Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana can choose between our PPO Network plan and our BCO 3-tier Network. Employees in other states have access to the same PPO Network plan and our BDC-PPO Network. You can view your options in the following pages.
We exclusively offer consumer-driven High Deductible Health Plans (HDHP) paired with Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). In combination, the HDHP and HSA allow you to direct your medical care for the best possible coverage and value. HSAs are bank accounts that allow you to set aside tax-free money to pay your deductible and other out-of-pocket qualified medical, dental and vision expenses. The funds in your HSA roll over from year-to-year and are yours to keep – even if you change medical plans or retire.

Offset Your Deductible
Used as a spending account, your HSA can help offset the high deductible of our plans. A single employee on our PPO Network health plan who selects our HSA deposit reward for wellness would receive $1,750 total from Assurance for their HSA, covering all but $750 of their deductible. That gap can be paid with tax-free money if you also contribute personally to your HSA.

HSAs benefit from a triple tax advantage: you don’t pay any taxes when money goes in, comes out (for qualified medical expenses) or on interest earned on investments within the account. This makes an HSA a critical component of any retirement strategy.

LTC provides support for performing basic activities or assistance because of severe cognitive impairment.
While traditional life insurance pays a benefit to beneficiaries upon your death, this permanent insurance with long-term care can also pay you a benefit should you need it while you’re living. This policy will provide additional coverage to the Assurance-paid long-term care insurance.
